Hello Everyone,

I hope you have had a great summer. I have greatly enjoyed teaching advanced ballet classes all summer long , June through to August, teaching not only my long time, dedicated students but many new faces as well.It was a pleasure to work with such an enthusiastic group.

As the Cecchetti ballet examinations were after our performance of Cinderella and the end of the regular season, I would now like to extend my congratulations to my students whose dedication and hard work translated into outstanding exam results! Well done to Maggie Whelan (Grade 1), Katherine Stevenson (Grade 1), Heather Gillis (Intermediate), Rebekah Lash (Intermediate) and Sarah Small (Advanced 1).

I am announcing that this season Blackmore Dance is renewing it's focus.I will be directing my attention back to my original vision that I returned with after my studies in Toronto with some twenty seven years ago. I have been teaching, performing and working with arts organizations here and nationally over this time. Twenty four of these years were primarily with my own school in St. John's. I now wish to concentrate on the teaching of classical ballet to older students, choreography and other special projects both here and increasingly outside the province.

Throughout the season I plan to offer my Intermediate/Advanced Open Ballet Technique classes, including pointe and exam coaching (teachers and dancers/Grades and Majors). Starting in October I will be available for guest teaching, choreography and workshops.Although I primarily wish to work with advanced dancers, I may consider taking children 10 years of age and up (by audition only) for private or small group ballet syllabus coaching. Further announcements will come later in the fall.

I realize for many of you I will no longer offer the type of service you are looking for. There are numerous schools with a great variety of teachers in the greater St. John's area. I hope you find one that offers a suitable alternative for you. Price, location, scheduling, parking, customer service, recital date/s, costumes and marketing are all factors that are important to many, however I encourage you to think about what is important to you and your child about dance. What is type/style that you wish to study? What is the philosophy of the school and/or teacher? Ask about the experience, reputation, qualifications of the faculty. Let these questions guide your choice.

I wish everyone the best and hope you will all continue to enjoy the magic of dance and the theatre. I thank you all but especially those who have supported my vision faithfully throughout the years. To my advanced dancers who are heading off on their own adventures this season and to the many who have gone before, I wish all.... Bon Voyage!

Sincerely
Sandra Blackmore
