While you are there on stage with Martin energizing look out, feel the space not only in front but above,behind and in fact through the wings...... and back to your colleagues on stage then explode this energy forward throughout the theatre right to the balcony !This is the space your performance energy should encompass .

So many teachers and choreographers from far and wide that I have had the privilege to work, have given so much to me ....... while I am here in Newfoundland I continue to try and share with you all.

Thanks for the beautiful dance, enjoy and mingle in the social room after our performance and most importantly remember we are raising funds for the DTAN Scholarship!!

What a great weekend of work! " In a Garden .....Far Away..." is looking great ...by the end of both Saturday's & Sunday's rehearsals. Ask Bernadette! A huge thanks for her "fresh eye" and "gentle corrections". With all in costume with headpieces, bouquet's completed and all of Maggie's costume/prop details finalized .... You will all be gorgeous ....... and reflect what I have always tried to bring forward.....the magic of dance and the theatre . I am so pleased that all of you chose to dance my piece . I thank you most sincerely . Now..........

Some exciting days ahead try to remember all the details we have addressed in recent rehearsals.

Some quick notes to recap!!!!

Maggie's music /close 1 releve 2 turn to C3 3 back to C1 4 turn 5 &6 place and change bouquet if necessary. This is slower than you think.
Opening of 2nd music / remember one step is a soutenue turn the other is a pas de bourre en tournant, Everyone must finish up on 8 with Colleen ! I you cannot get your bouquet in the basket Maggie is prepared to help you but please ....get the flowers in the basket! Good job Maggie

Saturday Classes & Rehearsal 24 February On Schedule

11:00 a.m. local time ( NST)

I have just returned from my downtown scouting mission ! There are roads, buses, sidewalks are reappearing and the stores and coffee shops are re opening. So I will be at The School of Dance for classes and rehearsal today.

Water Street is clear for drop off and pick up however there is very limited parking. There is some parking on Harbour Drive. Right know the parking lot has been cleared but you can't get in..........hopefully that will change by this afternoon?

2:30-4:00 Ballet
4:00-6:00 Rehearsal
6:00-7:00 Grade 2

Tomorrow in addition to 10:30 class there will be a rehearsal at 12:15.

Winter Term Week 7 & Dance Collage

Week 7 of the Winter Term

A reminder that now there is also a class on Sunday mornings at 10:30, The School of Dance. All are commended for getting to class on Sunday mornings and approaching the work with such spirit ........I am certainly enjoying the Advanced 2 material.
All other classes continue at their usual times and locations. Dancers should always feel welcome to drop in to any of my classes.

Dance Collage

The performance is very close ! Everyone please make a big effort for this coming week end. We will keep working to clean up positions, places and indeed finalize the timing and pathways to the elusive final pose !

Corsages go on the left with the pink flower on top. The headpieces, which I will bring to the theatre along with the bouquets, go on the right side of the low bun with the yellow flower on top. Gather together your hair pins, we will have a "dress rehearsal" at some point on the week end.

Rehearsals are at the usual times and locations on Friday /Saturday (23&24 Feb.). I feel that we will need time on Sunday (25 Feb.), if so, it will be at The School of Dance around 12:15.

Arts and Culture Centre times are as previously posted.

Monday, 26 February 5:00-5:30 Blocking

Tuesday,27 February 5:15-5:30 Technical

Please try to be at the theatre at least by 4:30. This will allow everyone to get organized and warmed up. As time is limited,we need to be prepared and make the most of the stage and crew availability. I would recommend that you wear costumes on both rehearsal days. It is necessary that you wear costumes at the Technical as this will be the only oppotunity to adjust lighting cues.

The performance is on Wednesday, 28 February. Curtain 7:30 p.m. I understand we are are fourth on the program . I will be at the theatre by 5:30 the day of the performance. Often there is a group warm up on stage that all dancers are invited. We will also need some type of ballet warm up.Details can be discussed and agreed on the week end. A reminder that this show is a fund raiser for the DTAN Scholarship Fund.

Sunday Morning Class Starts!

Class begins tomorrow , Sunday 11, February at The School of Dance, Water St. Start time is 10:30 a.m.- 12:00 p.m.The class will have a free barre based around the Cecchetti principles and the remainder of the class will focus on the Advanced 2 material.The class is open to all Intermediate/Advanced dancers. I hope you will come and enjoy this opportunity to dance the beautiful Adages and lively Allegro from this exciting syllabus.

Also there is now basic pointe ( Intermediate Syllabus level) on Mondays at 6:00p.m. at Coaker Meadow .

All other classes and rehearsals remain at their usual times this week.

February Update

Yes here it is....... February ! A big hello to all of you who are away studying or working. I hope this finds you well. We are having a snowy winter with lots of wind ! I have been good with my resolution, that I began at the Christmas Workshop. This morning I battled my way down Water Street through the gusts to work on Cecchetti Diploma. Best wishes for all of your projects this Winter!!

Since we are about half through the Winter Term I am posting the schedule again with the new additions as well as the Price List.

Starting this week there will be an additional Cecchetti Diploma class on Wednesday afternoons. Starting Sunday , 11 February there will a morning Advanced 2 class. If you are interested in these classes contact me directly and I will confirm the times and location.

Dance Collage rehearsals this week will be Friday 6:45-8:30 in Mount Pearl and Saturday 4:00-5:00 at The School of Dance. Thanks to participants for their enthusiasm , I have been enjoying the rehearsal process and seeing the piece come to life!

So, a reminder to all that although we are well into the term dancers may start at any time. Drop Ins are always welcome and the class cards may be purchased .

I would be very pleased if you would share the info about my classes to others who may enjoy these classes .

Listed below are two sets of payment options, Drop In Rates or Set Term Rates. Please choose the fee schedule that is most appropriate for you. Tuition is non refundable. Class cards expire at the end of the winter session. If you choose the Set term Rates you are reminded , as in the past , that attendance is the dancer's responsibility. However all are encouraged to make up missed lessons (if available). There are absolutely no refunds.
This is a ten week session, Saturday ,6 January through to Friday, 16 March.
